Ahhh! This is likely due to wearing Lip Oils without an SPF lip balm underneath. Oil + sunlight + no protection = hyperpigmentation guaranteeddd. I can see this being a very frequent/ viral complaint as we get into the summer months!

Yessss!! I also did more research and it’s because it has the Propyl Gallate ingredient which causes sensitivity and makes the lips prone to the two-toned reaction once paired with sun exposure.

the biggest thing too is, that specific ingredient is only in 167 beauty products and is banned in the EU + Japan because of its health risks which poses a bigger question about why they aren’t making consumers aware of these effects or the least, language letting folx know they should wear SPF with the lip oil — orrrr why not make one with an SPF? We know they have the $$$$
