If not, it’s important that you start doing so. The skin restores and repairs itself as you sleep, so removing all environment debris from your face (sunscreen, the elements and etc) is vital to help you get the skin your deserve. Clogged pored can lead to acne breakouts and other skin concerns and issues that you’ve worked so hard to avoid — so please, wash your face in the evenings, no matter how tired you are.
2. Incorporating The Top 3 Acids Into Your Skincare Routine
First of all, before we even get to washing your face in the evening, let’s make sure that your morning and evening routine includes skincare’s top acid players: Niacinamide, Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid. These active ingredients work on healing and hydrating the skin.
You don’t need to use Vitamin C in your evening routine, but it is good for daytime wear if you have any dark spots or hyperpigmentation you want to target. Hyaluronic acid works to increase the suppleness and bouciness of your skin (which is perfect when you’re in the 30+ club as we start to lose that youthful bounce.) And niacinamide helps to circumvent or soothe any acne breakouts.
3. Wear Sunscreen, Damnit!
Yes, it’s winter and it may be cloudy, but you still need to wear SPF no matter the season or weather conditions. For us melanin-rich folk, our skin has built-in SPF, but you still extra protection, period.
4. Stay Consistent
If you want to see any type of progress, it’s essential that you remain consistent. That means sticking with a routine and products what works best for your skin type and not switching to the latest and the greatest because TikTok told you so.
Keeping a simple skincare regime will ultimately payoff in the most rewarding way with consistent practice.
