Transparently, I’m sitting here in a coffee shop, with my airpods in blasting Chedda Da Connect’s “Flicka Da Wrist” because I was inspired from the beauty looks I consumed over the weekend. Skai Jackson, Rihanna + JLo set the bar high for my fix of A-list hair moments.
For context, everyone knows how deeply I was in-tune my celeb hair, nails and makeup content at Bae, especially for award szn. Yeah, it was to drive traffic to the site for the most part, but after awhile, I became heavily obsessed with all thing celebrity, so of course now I have a fierce eagle eye for all things fresh and trending and the gworls mentioned above were always at the top of my list to stalk whenever I know something big is happening on the scene.
JLo was spotted at Valentino’s Spring 2024 Haute Couture show sporting the chicest bob that was styled in the most JLo-ish way. Of course her go-to stylist Chris Appleton was responsible for the lewk that was full of much body and bounce. To pair beautifully with her Valentino look, Appleton swept some of her inches into a clean side-parted moment with an XL hair bow from Jennifer Behr. What really gave the style an edge were the retro flicked ends of her hair, that honestly I wouldn’t have been able to stop myself from showing off the movement if I was JLo.
Following suit, we have Skai Jackson, who over the weekend took to “Da Gram” giving the gworls vintage glamour with a raised side-swoop bob hairstyle completed with you guessed it: flicked ends. Of course Skai is stunning, but what raised my alarms were not only the flicky ends, but the raised swoop the actor sported which Evangelist Robyn Fenty (Rihanna) put back on the map with her honey blonde lived-in faux bob she donned at Paris Couture Week. (Ya’ll know she was giving First Lady Karen Clark-Sheard realness.) For Skai, Let’s give a round of applause to her hairstylist Alexander Armand who did all of the things he needed to do, as per usual.
Flicked ends definitely have been back in action for the last year or so, so it’s safe to surmise that we know what to expect from the girlies for award, red carpet + special event szn. The Barbie effect is still making its mark.
Your moms knew what she was doing when she bumped those ends lmao
