When I first started wearing makeup, I was a powder foundation king. MAC Cosmetics NW55 Pressed Powder was my go to. Then, when I started working at L’Oréal and had access to gratis, I became obsessed with liquid formulas. During those days, my go-to were Lancôme’s Teint Idole, NYX Cosmetics “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” foundation and NARS Sheer Glow. When I got to Glossier, I’d graduated to using Pat McGrath and swore by this formula for the next 3-4 years up until the pandemic.
Whenever I would see any one using foundation sticks, I would turn my nose up at the thought. There was something so regal to me about pouring foundation onto a makeup palette and intentionally crafting myself into an even more beautiful human — something I felt as if a foundation stick wouldn’t be able to do for me. If I’m thinking practically, a foundation stick makes the most sense. There’s less mess and you can just swipe and go. However, who really thinks practically that when wearing makeup??
Fast-forwarding to 2024, my thoughts + mind have changed and it’s all due to Ami Colè’s Skin-Enhancing Stick.
TLDR:
In addition to flawless + seamless application, foundation sticks are portable, meaning they make the best travel options. This one from Ami Colè comes in luxe black-to-black packaging, revealing a burnt orange applicator tube, full of melanin-rich goodness.
Shade Range:
She comes in 14 shades from the fairest of the melanin babes to the richest. My shade is 210, which is described as a deep brown with golden tones.

Upon first application, I knew she was the product for me. Secretly I battle with hyperpigmentation spots and the stick flawlessly covered my imperfections while still bringing out the radiance and trueness of my skin. The application and softness of the stick alone sold the hell out of me ‚ but its medium, buildable coverage —no matter how many times you swipe the product and pat it into your skin, won me over! It truly doesn’t take away from the finish being “your skin BUT better” (Many brands love to say this, but they don’t mean it.)
Final Thoughts:
The stick is priced at $28 USD and she’s worth every penny. Honestly, I may be retiring my every day liquid foundation after coming over to the “skin-enhancing” stick side — this product is just that good.
Would love to know how you compare it to BASMA foundation stick! I recently got it and I’m mixed on it.
Please!! I need to know! The range BASMA has is great. Almost hard to choose!
